Workshop: Storytelling Through Movement
February 20-23, 2019
Playwrights Rehearsal Studio, NYC
Movement is another way of telling a story. The course is designed to engage students in creating their own stories through movement. What is the value of telling personal and creative stories through physical movements? How do we convey ideas, emotions, or images with the body? What does it mean to share your own ideas in a form of nonverbal communication?
A variety of approaches in composing creative stories will be examined by utilizing theatrical tools (Improvisational exercises, Viewpoints, and Composition work), including different genres of music, poetry, and imagery work. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the body as well as its value in imparting the truest representation of oneself.
